New paternity leave rules

For babies due on or after 6 April 2024, employees will have new rights

For babies due on or after 6 April 2024, employees will be able to: 

  1. Take the two-week paid leave entitlement in two separate one-week blocks (instead of concurrently only); 

     
  2. Take the paternity leave at any time in the 52 weeks following birth (instead of within the first 56 days only);

     
  3. Give 28 days notice to take the leave (instead of 15 weeks).
