Chambers UK 2027: our employment team makes the list

15th October 2026

Employment law, Newbury, Berkshire.

We have some news we're quietly pleased about.

Chambers and Partners, one of the UK's leading independent guides to law firms and lawyers, has ranked our employment team for the first time. Simon Fenton and Julie Taylor have also been ranked individually, and Chris Sutton has been recognised in family law for a second year.

What is Chambers?

Chambers researches law firms across the UK every year. Its researchers speak to clients and other lawyers about the work they've seen, then decide who is ranked. Firms can't pay to be included, which is why a ranking means a lot to us.

Who has been recognised

  • Our employment team is ranked in Band 4 for Employment in the Thames Valley
  • Simon Fenton, Managing Partner and Head of Employment, is ranked in Band 4 for Employment in the Thames Valley
  • Julie Taylor, Partner in our employment team, is ranked in Band 4 for Employment in the Thames Valley
  • Chris Sutton, Partner and Head of Family Law, is ranked as Up and Coming for Family/Matrimonial in the Thames Valley

Chambers ranks from Band 1 to Band 7, and says being ranked in any band is a significant achievement. We're happy to take their word for it.

Chris has now been Up and Coming for two years running. He'd like us to point out that he is still coming. We've reassured him there's no rush.

Thank you to our clients

Chambers rankings depend on clients who are willing to give up their time to speak to researchers. Some of you did that for us, and we're very grateful. Hearing kind words at the end of a case is lovely. Knowing you said them to Chambers, on a call you didn't have to take, means even more.

We'd also like to thank the whole team at Fenton Elliott. The rankings carry a few names, but the work behind them is shared by everyone here.

What this means for you

Not a great deal changes. You'll still speak to the same people in Newbury and Abingdon, and get the same clear, practical advice, whether you're an employer dealing with a difficult staffing issue or going through a separation or divorce.
