Fenton Elliott Solicitors is a highly regarded niche practice with a focus solely on two areas of expertise: Family Law and Employment Law. The Family Law department, run by Chris Sutton, has grown exponentially since its inception in September 2023 and is already looking to add a fourth member to the team.
The firm is new, dynamic and growing fast. The basic principle is that the team at Fenton Elliott want it to be the kind of firm you would dream of working in; top quality work, fair pay, relaxed but professional attitudes; in short, decent, kind, fun people doing great work that they enjoy.
And because it’s growing fast and we’re new, you would have the opportunity to mould the firm into what you want it to be. You will not be fitting in to rigid existing structures of practice but have the chance to make of the job what you want and the sky really is the limit.

The role is ideally full time (although quality part time applicants would be considered) and will include a combination of running a caseload of privately funded Family Law work and assisting the Partners in the team on their caseload as required. The successful candidate will be ambitious, hardworking and interested in professional networking in order to build their own professional reputation/brand as a family lawyer in the local area. An interest in undertaking your own advocacy is actively encouraged although not essential. The role will best suit a 1-4 year PQE solicitor/CILEX Lawyer but exceptional newly qualified applicants or more senior applicants are welcome and will be considered.
The firm has a head office on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire, with free onsite parking (and electric vehicle charging is also available) but also operates out of a satellite office in Abingdon, Oxfordshire as well. The successful candidate will be able to work from either/both offices and there will also be opportunities to work from home when required.
The firm undertakes cases involving Divorce, Financial Remedy, Child Arrangements, Domestic Abuse, TOLATA and Nuptial Agreement fields. A candidate with a client following or case load is welcomed although this is not essential as there is a reasonable caseload waiting for the successful applicant already.
A competitive salary (based on experience) is offered alongside other employed benefits such as pension contributions, performance related bonus, life insurance and private healthcare with Aviva.
Being a relatively new department in a rapidly growing niche practice this opportunity will be particularly exciting for someone who wants to get in at the ground level of building something special.
We offer a relaxed working environment fostered on positive encouragement to achieve success together as opposed to micro-management of time recording targets. We also regularly welcome our dogs into the office and our Newbury office is perfectly positioned for amazing lunch time walks on Greenham Common.
